Summer is nearly here, and it’s been a while since we shared what’s been happening across our pharmacies. The honest answer? Quite a lot. Here’s a quick update from all of us at HealthPoint.

We’re coming to Birr! 🎉

We’re delighted to share that our newest pharmacy opens at **Birr Primary Care Centre on Monday 31 August** — our third store in Co. Offaly and our twelfth overall.

We’ll be right alongside the GP practices in the new centre, which means you can see your doctor and collect your prescription under the one roof. We’ve been working on this quietly since 2024, and we can’t wait to welcome the people of Birr through the doors.

It will also be the first store to feature our brand-new HealthPoint store design — brighter, calmer and easier to find your way around — with our Longwood pharmacy getting the same fresh look soon after. Keep an eye out for a sneak peek below.

Changes to blister packs — what it means for you

From 1 June, the HSE changed how weekly blister packs (sometimes called “phased dispensing”) work in every pharmacy in Ireland — not just ours.

In short: some patients who previously collected their medicines weekly will now collect them **once a month**, and blister packs are now only HSE-funded for patients who meet certain criteria. Nothing is wrong with your prescription — it’s simply a change in the national rules.

If you’re unsure how this affects you or someone you care for, please just ask our pharmacist. We’ll talk you through your options, and we’ll always make sure you can take your medicines safely.

Some very special milestones 💙

Pharmacy is a people business, and this month we celebrated a few people who prove it:

- Liz retired from our Longwood pharmacy after an incredible 42 years of looking after the community. If you’ve ever been in to Longwood, Liz has probably looked after you — or your parents!

- Claire said farewell to Farrells after 37 years of hard work, loyalty and friendship. We’ll miss her dearly, and we know many of you will too.

- Alison celebrated 10 years with us, growing from pharmacy technician to dispensary manager to pharmacist along the way.

- And congratulations to Rachel at our Primary Care Centre pharmacy in Mullingar, who passed her IPU exams in flying style.

To Liz and Claire especially — thank you for decades of care. Pharmacies come and go, but people like you are why customers keep coming back.

Out and about in the community

- We were proud to support St Munna’s Ringtown Camogie Club with a first aid bag for their U15 Féile finals — best of luck, girls! 🏐

- We also sponsored a first aid kit for the Bunbrosna Mothers & Others Group for the season ahead.

- And by popular demand, Decléor Skincare is back at our Primary Care Centre pharmacy in Mullingar — pop in and say hello to the team.
