Free Life Meter Screening Event at Woods Pharmacy

At Woods HealthPoint Pharmacy, we are delighted to host a special Life Meter Screening Event on Thursday 25th September from 10am – 3pm. This is a unique opportunity for our community to access a cutting-edge health check, completely free of charge.

What is being screened?

The Life Meter device measures the level of carotenoids in your skin. Carotenoids are powerful nutrients found in fruit and vegetables that support our overall health. Research from Trinity College Dublin and South East Technological University (SETU) shows that healthy carotenoid levels play a vital role in protecting against:

• Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD), a leading cause of vision loss

• Cognitive decline, including risk factors linked to Alzheimer’s Disease

How does the test work?

The test is:

• Completely free of charge

• Quick – results in less than one minute

• Non-invasive – no pin pricks or needles

• Accurate – using advanced light technology previously only available in research laboratories

The Life Meter shines a safe light on your fingertip to measure carotenoid levels. It is totally painless and suitable for anyone, especially those aged 40 and over or with a family history of AMD or Alzheimer’s.

Why take part?

Knowing your carotenoid score is an excellent way of checking your nutritional health. If your levels are low, our pharmacy team can provide personalised advice on diet and supplements to help improve your results. We will also return in six months to rescreen and show you the improvements made through simple lifestyle changes.
